Frequently Asked Questions

  • What should I expect on my first psychology visit?
Expect to be made to feel comfortable and safe in the private counselling environment. The majority of your first session with Dina will be spent getting to know one another. You will discuss why you’ve come to see her and you will work together to identify goals for therapy. It might be helpful for you to think about what you want to gain from therapy prior to your appointment.
  • How long is a session?
    Sessions run for 50 minutes.
  • How do I make an appointment?
Please click here or send an email to contact@dinajones.com.au and we will get in touch to organise an appointment.
  • Do I need a referral?
You do not need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you would like to claim a rebate through Medicare, you will need to speak to your GP about whether you are eligible for a Medicare referral. If you have a Medicare referral, you are eligible to receive a rebate of $145.25 for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. If you are seeing your GP to organise a Medicare referral, let the GP practice know when you are booking in for your appointment, as you often need a double appointment.
  • Can I use private health insurance for psychology sessions?
You may be able to claim a rebate from private health insurance for psychology sessions, but you will need to contact your insurance provider for further information. You cannot claim a rebate from both Medicare and private health insurance for the same psychology session.
  • Fees & rebate
Dina's session fee is $230. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate of $145.25, making the out-of-pocket cost $84.75. Please follow this link for further information. If you have private health insurance, speak to your insurance provider about what rebate is available for psychology sessions. You cannot claim a rebate from both Medicare and private health insurance for the same psychology session. You can book an appointment with Dina without a referral or rebate.
  • Cancellation policy
If an appointment is cancelled at late notice, it is unlikely that this gap will be filled. This means that other clients have lost an appointment opportunity. With this in mind, we have a strict cancellation policy. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must provide us with at least 48 hours notice to avoid a $80 cancellation fee, payable before your next session. No Medicare or private health insurance rebate is available for unattended sessions.
